IT’S IMPORTANT TO WEAR YOUR HEARING AIDS ALL DAY ……….. Here’s WHY.

To be a successful hearing aid user it is important to wear your hearing instruments all day every day.  This provides a good basis for the brain to transition from quiet into more complicated listening environments. Research has shown that if your brain is not used to hearing and processing certain sounds and frequencies, your ability to hear those sounds becomes increasingly diminished over time resulting in further deterioration of your hearing.  By wearing your hearing devices all day (including when you are alone) you will be rewarded with maximum benefit when you have conversations in more complicated listening settings.

Establishing a routine of putting your hearing aids on at a specific time each morning will insure that you will get the full benefit from your hearing instruments. You and your brain will have enhanced access to your day to day environment, improving your memory and comprehension.  So make it your daily habit to wear your hearing instruments all day every day.

First time Hearing aid user

At the beginning it is important to note there is a familiarization period as you get used to wearing your hearing instruments.

Sounds may seem loud to you at first because you have not been hearing properly for a long time. Progress to wearing them in more difficult listening environments such as groups, events, parties, and restaurant.  These environments can be difficult even for people who can hear normally.  (Have realistic expectations)

Give yourself time to regain your ability to hear in difficult situations.  During the adjustment period as well as making your hearing aids part of your everyday routine, be patient with yourself and persevere while you are adjusting to hearing sounds correctly, it will be worth the commitment.
