Hearing Aid Grant Ireland

What is PRSI Hearing Aids Grant?

Our hearing devices, up to €1,000, are free if you’re employed, self-employed, or retired and have the required number of PRSI contributions. This grant is for pensioners as well. Or you can put your PRSI contribution towards any pair of hearing devices and just pay the difference. Even though you have a Medical Card, you’re also likely to have PRSI benefits which could entitle you to a free pair of hearing devices. You can also claim up to €100 off repairs too.
Claiming is easy – all you need to do is provide your PPS number when you book your appointment (found on your payslip or tax documents), and we’ll support you through the next steps. Click here for hearing aid pricing.

Who Can Claim for Free PRSI Hearing Aid Grant in Ireland?

The government grant hearing is available to people who:

  • Are insured workers

  • Are self-employed

  • Are retired

If you fall into one of the categories above and have made the required number of PRSI contributions, you could be entitled to a hearing aids grant. It can be €1,000 for a pair and €500 for a single.

What If I Do Not Qualify?

You can do several things if you do not qualify for free PRSI hearing aid grants in Ireland.

Claim on your spouse's behalf: You can also apply on your spouse's behalf if you cannot do so yourself. To do this, your spouse must prove that they meet the PRSI requirements.

Private Health Insurance: You can use your private health insurance to help cover the cost. However, you should check with your insurance provider to see if they cover the cost. Some insurance providers will only cover a certain percentage of the cost.

Tax relief: You may be able to claim tax relief if you are self-employed. To do this, you will need a letter from your audiologist confirming that you need aids. You will then need to fill out a Med 2 form and send it to your local Revenue office.

Discounts: Some manufacturers offer discounts. You can check with your audiologist to see if they are aware of any current discounts.

Payment plans: You can set up a payment plan with your audiologist to help pay for hearing devices. This can be done by paying a deposit and then making monthly payments until the balance is paid off.

How Can I Apply?

Claiming is easy – all you need to do is provide:

  • Your PPS number when you book your appointment (found on your payslip or tax documents)
